Terms of Use
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms set out the rules for using The Inked Scroll (https://narcissus-sacredtreats-bakery.shop), an editorial blog about Greek myths written and run by the editors of The Inked Scroll ("we", "us"). By reading or using the site you agree to them, so please take a few minutes to read them. They sit alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we handle information.
The site
The Inked Scroll is free to read. There are no accounts, subscriptions, purchases or comments, and you don't need to give us anything to use it. We may add, revise, reorganise or remove articles, illustrations and pages at any time, and we may pause or close the site, for example for maintenance. We try to keep it available, but we can't promise it will always be online or free of errors.
Who owns the content
All texts on The Inked Scroll, including articles, retellings, notes and page copy, are © The Inked Scroll. All rights reserved. They are protected by the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and by the copyright laws of other countries.
The ancient myths themselves belong to everyone, and so do the ancient works we draw on. What we own is our writing about them: the way a story is retold, explained and arranged on these pages.
The illustrations were created for The Inked Scroll with AI image-generation tools, working to our own briefs. They are imaginative pictures, not photographs of real artworks, artefacts or places, and they shouldn't be cited as evidence of what any ancient object looked like. Please don't copy or reuse them without asking us first.
Quoting and sharing
You are welcome to:
- quote short passages, as long as you name The Inked Scroll as the source and link to the page you quoted
- share links to any page, on social media or anywhere else
- use what you learn here in your own study, teaching or conversation
Please don't, without our written permission:
- republish whole articles or substantial parts of them, on a website or in print
- present our writing or illustrations as your own
- reuse the illustrations in other projects
These terms don't take away any right you have under the fair dealing provisions of the Copyright Act. To ask for permission, write to [email protected].
General information, not professional advice
Everything on The Inked Scroll is for general education and enjoyment. We work from the ancient sources and from published scholarship, and we correct mistakes when we find them. Even so, myths survive in many competing versions, scholarship moves on, and we can't guarantee that every detail is complete, current or free of error. Nothing on the site is academic, legal, financial or other professional advice. If you are relying on a point for study or publication, check it against the primary sources.
If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page. We read every note and correct the page where we agree.
Links to other websites
Some articles link to other websites, such as museum collections, libraries or translations of ancient texts. We include them because we think they are useful, but a link is not an endorsement. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Check their own terms before relying on them.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)), or under any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Subject to that, the site is provided free of charge and "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from:
- your use of, or reliance on, information published on the site
- the site being unavailable, interrupted or affected by technical problems
- the content or practices of any website we link to
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia and the courts that hear appeals from them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example if we add a new feature to the site. The current version always appears on this page, and it was last updated on 3 November 2026. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply from then on.
